BUSINESS ETHICS

1.How do ethics contribute to customer satisfaction?

If someone has a good foundation in ethics, he/she will be able to communicate

with any customer. People tend to gravitate to and open up barriers of trust towards

someone who lives by good ethics. Good ethics are like the foundation in a home;

they hold the frame of the house, just like ethics hold the frame of your personality.

So when an employee has a good foundation of ethics, people will feel more

comfortable approaching he/her rather than someone who doesn’t have a good

foundation in ethics. Whether its other employees or customers, if they feel more

comfortable in discussing business with you, then that itself provides a type of

customer/employee satisfaction. For example, If Shane and Tina both work for the

same company selling the same merchandise, both get customers who want to buy

from our company. If Shane’s ethical foundation is bad, the customer will be able to

figure this out. Since Shane is a representative of the company, it reflects negatively

on the company. Now Tina has a great ethical foundation, and the customer sees

this, not only will the customer feel at ease with their purchase, but it gives the

customer more incentive to do business with their company again.

2.Why is it important that business people study business ethics?

For the owner of a company, you want to have a solid line up of business

employees who are skilled, competent and has a good grasp on standard business

ethics. As I stated in the first question, ethics are like the foundation in a home. It

gives you a set of guidelines to manage how you conduct yourself. So, if you look at

a house, you will notice some have add-ons and additions to them. I like to think of

the additions as different sections with different styles of ethics, like business ethics.

Business ethics are guidelines to how you conduct yourself in the business world. If
