Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a UCHC Technician I (EMT) Part Time for the Midstate Correctional Facility, located in Wrightstown, New Jersey.

The UCHC Technician participates as a member of the clinical and administrative medical team at the prison. Provides direct and indirect patient care to inmates under the direction of a Physician, Advanced Practice Nurse, Physician Assistant, or a Registered Nurse.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
* Takes vital signs, height and weight and documents in the EMR.
* Assists the physician/associate practitioner with procedures as needed, including preparing the inmate for the examination.
* Assists with the cleaning, sterilization and securing of equipment within the Health Service Unit.
* Maintains or assists in maintaining the supply stock in the Health Service Unit by ordering in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains the supply stock in the examination rooms. Assists with inventory audits as requested.
* Aggregates the orders of all medications and forward to the pharmacy provider / local pharmacy.

* EMT Certified.
* This position is subject to State Regulations regarding certification and/or licensure.

* Computer literacy.

As a first responder must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Typing, ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by the Department of Corrections in shared office environments. Ability to speak clearly and write proficiently is essential, extensive reading required, extended sitting and/or standing is required. Intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities, ability to move from unit to unit within correctional facilities requiring walks, bends, stretches, pushes, and pulls. Hearing is essential, ability to speak clearly is required, required to travel within the state, ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions and on call responsibilities.

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.

Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
