Pure Research This type of research deals with theoretical issues and aims to increase one’s understanding about certain concepts, principles, or abstract things. Applied Research This type of research seeks to find ways in answering practical issues, solving certain societal problems, and making positive changes in the society.
Descriptive Research Aims at defining or giving a verbal portrayal or picture of a person, thing, event, group, situation, etc. Correlational Research Shows relationships or connectedness of two factors, circumstances, or agents called variables. Explanatory Research Elaborates or explains not just the reasons behind the relationship of two factors, but the ways by which such relationship exists. Exploratory Research Its purpose is to find out how reasonable or possible it is to conduct research study on a certain topic. Action Research Studies an ongoing practice of a school, organization, community, or institution for the purpose of obtaining results that will bring improvements in the system.
Qualitative Research Requires non-numerical data, which means that the research uses words rather than numbers to express the results, the inquiry, or investigation about people’s thoughts, beliefs, feelings, views, and lifestyles regarding the object of the study. Quantitative Research Involves measurement of data. It presents research findings referring to the number of frequency of something in numerical forms (i.e. using percentages, fractions, numbers). NOTE: Primary data Obtained through direct observation or contact with people, objects, artifacts, paintings, etc. Secondary data If the data have already been written about or reported on and are available for reading purposes ACTIVITY: Activity 2: On Types of Research We’ve updated our privacy policy so that we are compliant with changing global privacy regulations and to provide you with insight into the limited ways in which we use your data. Research is a logical and systematic search for new and useful information on a particular topic. Research is important both in scientific and nonscientific fields. In our life, new problems, events, phenomena, and processes occur every day. Practically, implementable solutions and suggestions are required for tackling new problems that arise. Scientists have to undertake research on them and find their causes, solutions, explanations, and applications. The research is broadly classified into two main classes: 1. Fundamental or basic research and 2. Applied research. Basic and applied researches are generally of two kinds: normal research and revolutionary research. In any particular field, normal research is performed in accordance with a set of rules, concepts and procedures called a paradigm, which is well accepted by the scientists working in that field. In addition, the basic and applied research can be quantitative or qualitative, or even both (mixed research). 1. Fundamental or Basic research: Basic research
2. Applied research: Applied research
Basic and applied research is further divided into three types of research bearing some characteristics feature as
follows:
Qualitative research
Mixed research Other

Longitudinal Research
While longitudinal studies will often be more time-consuming and expensive than cross-sectional studies, they are more likely to identify causal relationships between variables. Cross-sectional

Last, of all, it is needless to say that scientific research helps us in many ways:
| Journal | Instructions | Submission | What type of research is the research applied to theoretical and practical issues deals with concepts principles or abstract things it is a pure research *?Pure Research – deals with concepts, principles, or abstract things.
Which type of research has a purpose is to find out how reasonable or possible it is to conduct a research study on a certain topic?Exploratory Research – an exploratory research's purpose is to find out how reasonable or possible it is to conduct a research study on a certain topic.
What type of research that studies an ongoing practice of a school organization or community?Unlike more formal research studies, such as those conducted by universities and published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals, action research is typically conducted by the educators working in the district or school being studied—the participants—rather than by independent, impartial observers from outside ...
Which of the following is an example of applied research?Finding replacement chemicals for CFCs is an applied research because the product would have a commercial value if found successful and would solve the immediate problem posed by CFCs.
