Which agent is most effective for the treatment of Nodulocystic acne?

Nodulocystic acne may consist of comedones and inflammatory lesions, as well as deeper nodules and cysts (Figure 4). Although a six-month course of systemic antibiotics may be effective, nodulocystic acne frequently requires treatment with isotretinoin (Accutane).

What antibiotics treat nodular acne?

Usually the first choice for treating acne is a tetracycline (minocycline, doxycycline) or a macrolide (erythromycin, azithromycin). A macrolide might be an option for people who can't take tetracyclines, including pregnant women and children under 8 years old.

What is the first line treatment for acne?

First-line treatment for mild acne vulgaris includes benzoyl peroxide or a topical retinoid, or a combination of topical medications including topical antibiotics. Tetracyclines are the preferred oral antibiotic, and doxycycline and minocycline have been shown to be more effective than tetracycline.

Which therapy is used in the treatment of acne?

Topical therapy is based on the type and severity of acne. Mild acne is often treated with topical retinoids, or a variety of diverse treatments such as azelaic acid, salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide.
