What are reinforcing consequences?A reinforcing consequence is an event which has a particular kind of effect on the particular behaviour which produces it (making it more likely that the learner will respond again in that particular way next time the situation arises).
Is an example of positive reinforcement?As noted above, positive reinforcement refers to introducing a desirable stimulus (i.e., a reward) to encourage the behavior that is desired. An example of this is giving a child a treat when he or she is polite to a stranger.
Is the act of applying a consequence that increases the likelihood?Reinforcement is defined as a consequence that follows an operant response that increase (or attempts to increase) the likelihood of that response occurring in the future.
