Getting one video to start after another in PowerPointHow to get one video to start automatically after the other one has finished in PowerPoint? This tutorial will show you how to get one video, on a PowerPoint slide, to automatically start playing after another video, on the same slide, has finished. You will also learn how to start any videos that you have on a slide automatically. This is ideal for any presentations that are pre-recorded. This means you can have a video presentation in a reception area or email a presentation to a potentional client with the confidicence that the pre-recorded videos won't stop the flow of your masterpiece. First, you will need two videos. Place them on the same slide in PowerPoint. I used two mp4 videos. Next, Add a bookmark to the end of the video on the left.
Note that the bookmark has been added to the video timeline. Now click on the video you would like to be played when the bookmarked is reached. Once you've selected the video on the right, click Playback then choose Automatically from the Start drop down list. Now, with the video selected, click Animations - Trigger - On Bookmark - Bookmark 1. Bookmark 1 is the name of the bookmark you want to use as a trigger. Obviously if you've renamed your bookmarks you would use the appropriate name. Note in the animation pane, click Animations and Animation pane if necessary, the trigger has been created. Now to test. Press F5 on the keyboard to test. Press the play button on the first video. To save time drag the playhead to just before the bookmark. Voila! Your second video should automatically start to play.
The PowerPoint Blog2 Second Rule for Auto Transition after VideoUsing auto advance for transition is easy, but calculating when a video will end in order to add in the correct auto advance timing is tedious. However, it turns out that we do not need to actually figure out how long a video is because PowerPoint cannot use the auto transition feature to override a video that is playing and advance, even if we want to (the solution is to trim the video to the shorter duration or manually advance the slide). TLC’s best practice is the 2 second auto advanceSlide has video, presenter wants presentation to automatically go to next slide when video is done – easy. On video slide, set to auto advance after 2 seconds. This assumes the video is the only animation and it is going to start playing automatically. PowerPoint will go to the video slide, then the video will start playing and trigger to auto advance to next slide after 2 seconds, but it cannot do so until the video is done playing, so it waits for the video to finish. When the video play animation is done, the slide automatically advances to the next slide! We use this feature to help us easily setup what could be a complex request. See the video example below: – Amber @ TLC Have inserted a video on a slide and want the video to automatically start two seconds after the associated slide appears How can you accomplish this?In Normal view, click the video in your slide. Under Video Tools, click the Playback tab. Next to Start, click the down arrow, and select Automatically. When you are delivering your presentation in Slide Show View or Presenter View, the video will play automatically when you arrive at the slide.
